Questions
How do I receive my order?
Once I receive your order, I will reach out to you to start the process. You will receive a text message to the number you provided once I am baking the item. I do not ship; local meet up, pick up, or delivery are your options for receiving the baked goods.
How do I store my sourdough?
Sourdough has basic ingredients and NO preservatives. This means it will not last as long as store bought items. I recommend to store your bread in a bread bin, a zip-lock bag or reusable bread bag on the counter. If you are not going to consume it all within 3-5 days of baking, storing the bread in the fridge is also an option but it will dry it out a little. Discard recipes are up to you for storage! Cookies don’t last long in my home so I leave them on the counter in a sealed container or bag. You may also freeze the bread or other goodies for up to 2-3 months if packaged properly.
What is starter vs discard?
Starter is essentially flour and water that has had time to build up healthy bacteria and acts as a leavening agent for breads. It is similar to yeast that you buy at the store but is not mass produced or processed. Sourdough discard is inactive, meaning it has not been fed with flour and it is not ready to be used to make bread. It is still “starter” but in the inactive form. It is used in recipes to add flavor and give texture.
How do I pay you?
Payment is due at the time of product exchange, whatever that looks like for delivery. I accept Apple Pay, Venmo, Paypal, cash, or check. You can find QR codes for Paypal and Venmo on the ‘Order Form’ page.
What products do you use?
I use organic unbleached flour for all of my recipes. If the recipe has cheddar, I use Cabot Creamery brand. If the recipe is sweet, I use organic cocoa powder, cane sugar, brown sugar, and local NC honey depending on what the recipe calls for. Most of the discard recipes call for some form of dairy product. Some recipes call for coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil, I do not use seed oils. I always use dark chocolate chips unless you specify otherwise when you order. None of the recipes that I make include nuts, HOWEVER I do have them in my kitchen.
What if I have allergies to foods?
Please let me know at the time you place your order. If I foresee that there is an issue with the item you order and your allergies, I will notify you and we can try to see if I can still make the item or if there is an alternative that I would recommend.
Why don’t you ship?
As I mentioned previously, my sourdough recipes do not have preservatives meaning the shelf life is less than store bought items. This is the main reason I do not ship. I am also just a one woman shop making baked goods in her home. I am not a bakery nor do I have the capacity to bulk produce. I created this website mainly for all my friends and acquaintances who ask me to make them baked goods. This is also why I specified that I will bake for local and surrounding areas only.
How will my items be packaged? Can I leave the baked goods in the original packing?
I plan to package the items for ease of delivery to you. You may leave the item in the package it comes in, or you can place the item in a sealed container (ziploc, bread bin, cotton reusable bread bag, sealable food storage container of choosing). I personally like sealed containers because I have noticed the bread will stay fresh longer.
