How to care for your sourdough…

Bread
- Bread will remain fresh at room temperature for 2-3 days.
- To keep bread fresh for longer, you may freeze it for up to 6 months.
- Wrap the bread in parchment paper or a clean linen towel and store in an airtight bread box.
- Wrap tightly in a freezer bag whole or sliced (if sliced, place wax paper between slices).
- Don’t place bread in the fridge as this can dry it out and affect the texture.
- To defrost, leave at room temperature or put in the toaster on the “defrost” setting.
Bagels
- Bagels will remain fresh at room temperature for 1-2 days.
- Freeze whole or sliced (if sliced, wrap each piece in plastic wrap) for up to 3 months.
- Store bagels in a closed paper bag at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
- Defrost halved bagels in the toaster and whole bagel on the counter or in the oven.
- Avoid storing bagels in the fridge as they can dry out.
- Do NOT microwave, this will impact the texture. You may reheat in the oven or an air-fryer.
Cookies
- Cookies will maintain their taste and texture for up to 3 days.
- Do NOT put cookies in a cooler or a refrigerator as this will dry out the cookies quicker.
- To keep cookies fresh, store in a jar or airtight container at room temperature. Keep different types of cookies in separate containers.
- Cookies can also be frozen for up to 3 months. If freezing, place the cookies in an airtight container.
- If stacking cookies on top of one another in the container, place a piece of plastic wrap or parchment paper between each layer.
- To defrost the cookies, leave them out at room temperature for approximately 2 hours prior to serving.
Muffins
- For optimum taste, consume muffins within 4 days.
- Store at room temperature in a dry place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat.
- Store in an airtight container lined with paper towel, underneath and on top of muffins.
- Wrap each muffin in plastic, place in a ziplock bag, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Do NOT place muffins in the fridge as this can dry them out and affect the taste.
- For a warm treat, wrap each muffin in foil and heat at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
Brownies
- Brownies will remain fresh at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
- Freeze in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge or microwave.
- Wrap in foil, plastic wrap, or place in an airtight container and store in cool, dry place.
- Place brownies on a baking tray in oven and warm at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes to reheat.
- Microwave for 10-30 seconds to reheat/defrost (cover stale brownies with a damp paper towel).
- You may also refrigerate in a ziplock bag or airtight container for up to 1 week.
Loaf Cakes
ie Banana, Pumpkin, Apple Breads
- Cake will remain fresh at room temperature for around 2-3 days.
- Serve at room temperature. If refrigerated, take out of the fridge 1-2 hours prior to serving.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
- To store for longer, keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw uncovered in the fridge overnight.
- Avoid refrigerating otherwise. However, if needed you may refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 7 days.
- Freeze uncovered until solid, then wrap tightly in plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag.
Cupcakes
- For optimum taste, consume within 24 hours.
- Store in a cool dry place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat.
- Store leftover cupcakes and muffins in an airtight container either on your countertop or in the fridge if they have cream cheese frosting or fillings.
Cinnamon Rolls
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days in a cool, dry place. Avoid moisture and heat.
- To store for longer, can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days. Reheat before serving.
- Place a damp paper towel over your cinnamon roll and microwave for 30-60 seconds to reheat. OR… Place in the air-fryer, cover with foil and reheat at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 3-5 minutes.
- Alternatively, place in a baking dish in the oven and cover with foil. Reheat at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
- Can be frozen for up to 2 months in an airtight container or tightly wrapped. Thaw at room temperature.
